I am speechless. I have never in my entire life seen a place so completely devastated. I was able to talk with Rhonda and Mike Miller (pictured below) who with their 2 year-old granddaughter, escaped the tornado with only minor scratches. Mike told me that they were picked up by the tornado and rose up about a foot when a building crashed onto their car. The building actually saved them because it forced their car back down to the ground. If their car hadn't been hit by the building, the tornado would have swept them up and away. Check here tomorrow because I will post the video of the Miller couple that retells their experience. I am hoping that the people of Joplin will be able to recover fully from this terrible disaster.
As I was driving back to KC, I heard this news that will be helpful to victims:
All the resources available to help families and businesses cope with the aftermath of the Joplin tornado are being brought together in one place.
In order to help the victims receive the information and help they need A Community Response Meeting is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday at Missouri Southern State University.
